How to Reach Lakshadweep

By Air

The flight service from Cochin International Airport to Agatti Island, which is part of the Lakshadweep archipelago, is the primary means of reaching the island for travellers. The main highlights of this one and half hour flight service is the breathtaking aerial view of the Lakshadweep islands during the journey. Passengers get to witness the turquoise waters, coral atolls, and the picturesque landscape through the windows.

By Sea

The MV Agatti, MV Lagoons, MV Corals, MV Arabian Sea, and MV Lakshadweep Sea are among the five passenger ships that operate from Cochin to Agatti Island in Lakshadweep. The journey along this route takes around 14 to 16 hours, depending on weather and sea conditions. Accommodation options on these ships include First Class cabins (with two berths), Second Class cabins (with four berths), and Bunk Class seating.

All these ships are fully air-conditioned, providing passengers with a pleasant and comfortable journey. Entry Permit Requirements

An entry permit is required to visit Lakshadweep. Once you applied for an entry permit, it took 10–15 days for approval.

Best Time to Visit

From September to May, which is the best time to visit the islands.

Ship Tickets

Ship tickets are released on lakport.utl.gov.in approximately four days in advance.

To book ship tickets, visit the ticket counters in person or online at https://lakport.utl.gov.in. It's recommended to book to and from flights to Agatti after obtaining an entry permit because only one flight is operating daily. Also, getting a ticket is risky due to the heavy tourist flow.

Important Note

You need to allow 18 hours to pass before flying after diving!
